The Real Magazine Web Design

The Real is an online magazine featuring articles about fashion, culture, music… amongst other subjects. They approached me to design a minimalist logo & web design, using a black & white colour scheme and bold fonts. It was important for them to easily use the website to publish new articles, also to act as an online shop in the future.

The Web Design

I built the website using WordPress, creating a simple, minimalistic theme using black & white colours, or shades of grey to separate sections. The theme had to be fully customised in terms of layout, to add a secondary text menu to the home page which disappears when viewed on mobile.

I also added a ticker style newsflash function to the home page which displays the most recent articles. The shop functionality was set up initially, for them to sell digital downloads of the magazine, but will be hidden from the main website to begin with, until they generate a good amount of content and followers.

Future support

As with most new website designs, this is an ongoing project. For all of my customers I keep an eye on their Google rankings for a number of months after launching to make sure they are ranked accordingly, and advise them on how to improve their SEO. And of course I’m always available for any technical issues that may arise… if any!
