Amara Clinic Logo & Web Design

I designed the logo and website for Amara Clinic around six years ago, but in 2025 I realised that the WordPress theme was not compatible with the latest version of PHP, which is the language used for most WordPress installations and plug-ins. So it was extremely important to update the web design and theme to ensure we could update the WordPress software without any issues, to guarantee good security.

The Logo Design

Back when I actually designed this logo, they were keen to use the vibrant pink colour, and a script style font. I tried a number of different fonts, which always have good or bad aspects depending on the lettering, whether the capital letters transition smoothly into the following lower case letters.

In this case, they were extremely keen on the font that we eventually chose, but it didn’t link together smoothly, so I outlined the letters and manually illustrated the lettering with smooth connections to convey a realistic hand written look. In 2025 I decided to add the circular icon using the letter A, so they could use it for social media profiles.

The Web Design

The initial web design was fairly similar to the updated website, but was not quite as clear when viewing on mobile. It was perfectly good, but not as good as the latest update! I also simplified the 2025 web design by removing some unnecessary elements like the hero slideshow on the home page, and made sure all text and buttons were easy to read when viewed on mobile.

Marketing & SEO

As the initial web design was around six years old, I also made a number of changes to the SEO set-up, just the basic SEO aspects like image ALT tags and Title tags for links. It’s actually interesting to see an old website, which you haven’t looked at for years, and take a fresh look at the SEO set-up, there are always a few little tweaks you can make to improve the web design.
